Jackson, MS. Treasurer Lynn Fitch and the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors announced an opportunity for local residents to come search the State’s unclaimed property listing and claim funds the State might be holding for them.

3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
“Events like these in Winona, Myrtle, and Pearl last November helped reunite people in those towns with over $60,000,” said Fitch. “What a great boost for their family budgets and for the local economies. It is a pleasure to work with mayors, supervisors, legislators, and others to help people claim money the State is holding for them. And, I thank the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors for inviting my office to work with them to help the people of Lauderdale County.”
Since Treasurer Fitch took office in 2012, she has distributed $79 million in unclaimed property, which is more than half of all the money that has been distributed since the program began in 1982.
Unclaimed property specialists from the Office of the State Treasurer will be on hand at the event to help people search the State’s unclaimed property list, complete claims forms, and even notarize their paperwork. Individuals planning to attend are encouraged to bring the following to expedite their claims:
Individuals can always check the State’s listing at www.treasurerlynnfitch.com to see if the State has any money in their name, as well.
Media are invited to come to this event to see how the process works. Your stories help people learn about the unclaimed property program and find money they may not realize is waiting for them.
